NAGALAND DECLARED DISTRUBED AREA FOR ANOTHER ONE YEAR


The whole of the State of Nagaland has been declared as disturbed area for a period of one year beyond July 22, 2003. This has been done by the Centre in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 4 of the Armed Forces (Assam & Manipur) Special Powers (Amendment) Act, 1972.

The Gazette Notification declaring the State as disturbed area for a further period of one year says that the whole State of Nagaland is in such a disturbed or in dangerous condition that the use of armed forces in aid of civil power is necessary.
