KVIC TARGETS TO CREATE 4 LAKH JOBS
DURING 2003-04
The total employment
generation by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under
the Ministry of Agro and Rural Industries, was about 66 lakhs
upto 31.03.2003 in KVI sector. A total number of 25,253 projects
throughout the country have been targeted to be set up during
the year 2003-04, creating additional employment opportunities
for 3,96,457 persons.
Under the Rural
Employment Generation Programme (REGP) of KVIC, a total number
of 1,61,505 rural industries were financed and employment for
17.43 lakh persons were generated through them from 01.04.1995
to 31.03.2003.
This information
was given by the Minister of Agro and Rural Industries, Shri Sangh
Priya Gautam in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
