UNRESERVED TICKETING SYSTEM

The Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), introduced on Northern Railway with effect from August 15, 2002 has since been extended to 23 stations in Delhi area. About 90 counters have been operationalized, which can issue tickets with all the defined destination stations in the system.

The UTS project is similar to the computerized Passenger Reservation System. The tickets can be purchased 30 days in advance and the passengers need not buy the tickets from the station where the journey is to commence. It aims at giving flexibility to the passengers for buying tickets on a convenient date and trying to reduce serpentine queue at the train originating stations where there is normally heavy rush for the unreserved tickets before train departure.

The UTS is being extended to Eastern, East Central, North Eastern and remaining stations of Northern Railway in the current financial year
