TRAIN ACCIDENT NOT CAUSED BY RAILWAY STAFF


The Commissioner of Railway Safety, North Eastern Circle, Shri Bhupender Singh, in his statutory inquiry into the collision of 542 Down Bhatni-Chhapra Passenger train with a truck No. WB25 4019 between Jeradei and Siwan Railway Stations on Gorakhpur—Chhapra Kachehri broad gauge single line section, non-electrified, Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway, on June 18, 2003 at 7.55 a.m., has held that the accident occurred due to failure of a person other than the Railway staff.

As a result of the collision between 542 Down and the Truck, the Driver of the passenger train 542 Down was killed. No passenger was killed or injured grievously or received any simple injuries.

The provisional findings of the Commissioner appended to his Preliminary Report have been forward to the Government for consideration.
