REFORMS IN SOCIAL SECTOR AND ECONOMIC REFORMS MUST GO TOGETHER, SAYS DR. SANJAY PASWAN


The Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Dr. Sanjay Paswan has said that reforms in the social sector will have to go along with the economic reforms. This is necessary to ensure that the benefits of the economic reforms percolate down to the marginalised and under privileged communities. Dr. Paswan was talking to media persons after assuring the charge of the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment here this afternoon. He said that imbalances caused during the first generation economic reforms will have to be addressed. Dr. Paswan said we will have to vigorously pursue a new mind set initiated by the Social Justice & Empowerment Minister Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya under the guidance of the Prime Minister for empowering the downtrodden. He said that the government is working for economic and social development of the marginalised sections as a commitment and not out of pity. The Minister called for modernisation in the working of the Ministry and said that Information Technology must be utilised for this purpose.

Dr. Paswan who was earlier Minister of State for Communication and IT is representing Nawada (SC) constituency (Bihar) in the Lok Sabha.
