The President leaves
New Delhi tonight for a day leaves New Delhi tvisit to Kolkatta.
He will inaugurate the 54th Annual General Meeting
of the Aeronautical Society of India tomorrow. Apart from the
inaugural address by the President, the function will also include
presentation of AeSI Journal and a book on Advanced Material.
The President is also scheduled to visit Ramakrishna Vivekananda
Mission at Barrackpore where he will visit the temple and witness
vocational training being given to deaf and dumb and blind girls
and distressed ladies. He will interact with and address the Swamijis,
Students and other inmates at the Mission. Being a Jesuit alumnus
himself, he will attend the inauguration of 6th World
Congress of Jesuit Alumni. The President will also speak on "Power
of the Ignited Minds" at the Netaji Indoor Stadium where
he will meet and interact with about 7000 students. He will address
and interact with children of Loreto Day School and the Calcutta
Foundation. Thereafter, the President will pay a visit to Netaji
Bhawan, where, apart from addressing the invited audience the
President will also visit the ancestral house of Netaji and the
Netaji Museum.
The President’s programme
also includes the Platinum Jubilee address of the Indian Chamber
of Commerce, Calcutta. He returns to Delhi late in the evening
on January 21, 2003. This is Dr. Kalam’s first official visit
to West Bengal after assuming the office of the President.
