The Information
& Broadcasting Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj has condoled the
death of renowned Hindi poet Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan who passed
away in Mumbai last evening. In her condolence message, Smt. Swaraj
said that with Shri Bachchan’s death an era of Hindi poetry has
come to an end. She said though Urbu poetry is full of writings
about drinking, bar and the host but it was Bachchan who wrote
on this theme in Hindi and his creation "Madhushala"
has been immortalized. "Madhushala" is incomplete without
Bachchan and Bachchan is incomplete without "Madhushala".
The void created by his death is difficult to fill, said Smt.
Swaraj.
