CEILING OF 60% ON ENTERTAINMENT TAX RECOMMENDED

The Committee for Development of Entertainment Sector, which was constituted at the 24th Conference of Information Ministers of State and Union Territories on 21.01.2001, has recommended that all States/Union Territory administrations should fix a ceiling of 60 per cent on entertainment tax. The recommendations have been circulated to all States/UTs for obtaining their views. The objective was that for all round development of film industry, States/UTs may consider rationalising of rates of entertainment tax so that a uniform structure prevails in the country.

This was stated by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
