LOK SABHA
The Ministry of Information
and Broadcasting has permitted 80 TV channels to uplink from
within the country. The Minister of Information and Broadcasting
Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad stated in written reply to a question
in Lok Sabha today that a large number of TV channels are also
being uplinked from outside the country. As per existing guidelines,
channels are permitted to uplink from India after fulfillment
of eligible criteria and compliance with terms and conditions
and an adherence to Programme and Advertising Codes. The channels
are also required to keep a record of materials uplinked for
a period of 90 days and to provide the necessary monitoring
facility for monitoring of programmes or content, Shri Prasad
said.
