OPENING OF NEW COAL MINES


RAJYA SABHA

Several new coal mines have been identified by Coal India Limited & Singareni Collieries Company Limited which are to be taken up during X Five Year Plan period in various parts of the country. Details are given below:-

In Coal India Ltd., out of total estimated capital investment of Rs. 23072 crores for 92 projects, an amount of Rs. 6343.92 crores is required to be invested in these projects during X Plan period.

Resource mobilisation for CIL during X Plan is as under:-

Internal resource generation

Rs. 8044.45 crores

Extra Budgetary resources

Rs.6271.67 crores

SCCL has planned an outlay of Rs.2113 crores during X Plan period and propose to spend Rs.963 crores for on-going and new projects. SCCL will meet all the funds requirement from its internal resources only.

Out of 92 coal projects of CIL, 72 projects are likely to contribute production during X Plan period and remaining 20 projects will contribute thereafter. All the 14 projects of SCCL are likely to commence coal production during the X Plan period.
