Central Vigilance
Commission (CVC) has submitted its final report to the government
on defence deals. Based on CVC’s recommendations, the Government
has set up the Defence Procurement Board, issued instructions
on evolving Standard Procedure for mandatory and time bound
scrutiny by the Comptroller & Auditor General and the Central
Vigilance Commission of all major defence related purchase decisions,
placed important data on procurement on the Defence Ministry’s
web site to encourage accessibility and transparency.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a
written reply to Dr Dasari Narayana Rao in Rajya Sabha today.

DIALOGUE
The ninth round
of Indo-French Strategic Dialogue was held in New Delhi on January
06, 2003.
No agreements were
signed during this Strategic Dialogue.
