CONSUMPTION OF PETROLEUM
PRODUCTS
The consumption of
petroleum products during 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 is estimated
to be around 107 MMT (Million Metric Tonne) and 111 MMT respectively.
The domestic production
and quantum of imports of petroleum products would depend upon
several factors which, inter-alia, include domestic demand, duty
structure, refining margin, export potential, etc. The domestic
production of petroleum products during 2003-04 is estimated to
be around 114 MMT.
The above information
was given by the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural
Gas, Shri Santosh Gangwar, today in the Rajya Sabha in a written
reply.
