The Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources was informed here today that the Command Area Development (CAD) Programme has resulted in better utilisation of irrigation potential created, increase in intensity of irrigation, improvement in the agricultural practices adopted by farmers, equity in water distribution, increase in production / productivity and farmers’ income from irrigated lands through optimal use of water resources......................

2483 project proposals approved under Swajaldhara
Under Swajaldhara, National Scheme Sanctioning Committee (NSSC) has approved 2483 project proposals amounting to Rs. 176.26 crore from 10 States / UT namely Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Dadar Nagar Haveli. In the approved proposals 5,43,157 number of contributors have deposited Rs. 19.72 crore as community contribution for implementation of Swajaldhara Scheme in their respective Gram Panchayats......................
