WHEEL AND AXLE PLANT RENAMED

The Ministry of Railways has issued a Notification renaming the ‘Wheel & Axle Plant’ at Yelahanka, Bangalore, in Karnataka as ‘Rail Wheel Factory’ with immediate effect.

The ‘Rail Wheel Factory’, known earlier as ‘Wheel & Axle Plant’, is one of the six Production Units of the Indian Railways. It was set up in 1985 to make Indian Railways self reliant in wheels and axles. To supplement its efforts, Durgapur Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. has been manufacturing wheels and axles for Indian Railways.
