KONKAN RAILWAY LAUNCHES PROJECT CHAITANYA


The Konkan Railway Corporation has taken several initiatives necessary to improve the quality of life of its employees and their families. In this connection, the Konkan Railway has launched a new project titled Chaitanya to address the cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspect of the children of its employees upto the age of ten years from Mumbai to Mangalore.

The project aims at assisting the children to realize their full potential and be at a cutting edge of evolving knowledge based society. The children are also enthused to be leaders in their respective fields in the coming years. The objective is to equip them with confidence, friendly feeling, good peer relationships, ability to face challenging tasks, good communication skills and be attentive to the situation around in order to be a better human being and yet start early and stay ahead.

To begin with, the project will involve active participation of parents of the children in their all round development. About 350 parents are targeted to take part in the programme at the corporate complex of Konkan Railway at Belapur. The project will be later extended to cover other stations over the Konkan Railway route. The Konkan Railway has drafted renowned psychiatrists, physiologists, pediatrics and NGOs for the project.

In the first phase of the project, parents are to be sensitized about the developmental milestones covering age specific, physical, behavioral, cognitive and emotional development of children, understanding parental need and assessment. In the phase-II of the programme, assessment of cognitive development of children will be focused .

This is the first ever project towards human development at the catch young stage undertaken by the Konkan Railway.
