SEPARATE CADRE OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SERVICE PROPOSED

Keeping in view the increasing responsibilities and the new technological opportunities that are available, there is considerable scope for improvement in the performance of the Archaeological Survey of India. That is why the Government has proposed separate Indian Archaeological Service. This was stated by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri Jagmohan in reply to a question by Dr. T. Subbarami Reddy and Smt. Shabana Azmi in Lok Sabha today.

Shri Jagmohan said that the creation of a separate Central Archaeological monuments and optimal utilisaiton of the resources of the Archaeological Survey of India in integrating cultural assets.
