39 COMPANIES PERMITTED TO UPLINK 104 CHANNELS

The Government has permitted 39 companies to uplink 104 channels from India, which carry either news and/or current affairs contents or entertainment contents.

Replying a question by Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal in Lok Sabha today, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said that out of these 39 companies, 12 have varying component of foreign equity. The permission to uplink TV channels is given after ensuring compliance of all eligibility criteria, including foreign investment norms, the Minister said.
