A
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the
Indian Railways and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation
for running of a luxury tourist train which would originate and
terminate at Mumbai and cover the tourist destinations of Ratnagiri,
Sindhudrug, Goa, Pune, Aurangabad and Nasik. The Railways would
be responsible for the operation of the train while the Maharashtra
Tourism Development Corporation would provide all the facilities
necessary for the onboard services and local sightseeing. The
arrangements for launch of the train are under finalization.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Basanagouda
R. Patil in a written reply to a question from Shri Chandrakant
Khaire in the Lok Sabha today.
