PROCUREMENT OF ADVANCE JET TRAINERS

The Government has approved the procurement of 24 HAWK Advanced Jet Trainers from M/s BAE Systems, UK in flyaway condition and 42 to be licensed manufactured at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. No agreement has been signed with UK in this regard.

The aircraft is likely to be inducted in Indian Air Force about 35 months after payment of advance to the supplier.

The licence manufacture of AJT by HAL is expected to start about 42 months after the date of signing the contract.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply Shri Ajay Singh Chautala in Lok Sabha today.
