EXPANSION OF RASHTRIYA RIFLES
LOK SABHA
The Government had
taken a decision in the year 2000 to raise six Rashtriya Rifles
(RR) battalions with related infrastructure, every year over a
period of five consecutive years. During 2001-2003, eighteen additional
RR battalions have been raised. An annual review is conducted
by the Government to determine the need of raising each year.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written
reply Shri Virendra Kumar in Lok Sabha today.
