GOVT ISSUES NOTIFICATION PRESCRIBING RULES AND FORM FOR AUDIT REPORT UNDER SECTION 44DA

The Central Government have issued a notification prescribing rules and form for the audit report under section 44DA of the Income-tax Act. The Finance Act, 2003 inserted a new section 44DA in the Income-tax Act, 1961 relating to special provisions for computing income by way of royalties, etc. in case of non-residents. Under this section the non-resident assessees are required to get their books of account audited and furnish the audit report in the prescribed form with the return of income.
