NEW MEMBER ENGINEERING RAILWAY BOARD
Shri S.P.S. Jain,
a Member of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), has taken
over as Member Engineering , Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary
to the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways. He succeeds
Shri Kanwarjit Singh, who retired on superannuation on November
30, 2003.
Earlier, Shri Jain
was General Manager, Central Railway, Mumbai. He also held concurrently
the charge of Western Railway, Mumbai.
Shri Jain graduated
in Civil Engineering from Roorkee University in 1966. He joined
Indian Railways on November 7, 1967 and has worked on different
Railways, such as, Northern, Northeast Frontier, Western, South
Eastern, Central and South Central Railways as also Railway Board
in various capacities. He has served as Divisional Railway Manager
at Ratlam on Western Railway and as Chief Engineer on South Central
and South Eastern Railways. Shri Jain had Senior Management training
in Manchester and had been on deputation in Zambia for World Bank
Projects. Shri Jain brings with him experience and expertise to
oversee and execute various works programmes to augment infrastructure
of Indian Railways.
