COMMEMRATIVE COINS IN THE MEMORY OF VEER DURGADASS RELEASED


Deputy Prime Minister, Shri L.K. Advani today release the commemorative coins in the memory of Veer Durgadass, the great warrior of Rajasthan. Recalling the values of Veer Durgadass, Shri Advani said that commitment, sacrifice for the cause and bravery of the great warriors of Rajasthan has been fascinating people of the country since ages. The coins are a small tribute to those great warriors.

Presiding over the function, Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, complimented Shri Jagmohan, Minister for Tourism and Culture for taking up projects for preservation and conservation of monuments and places related with our history and heritage. He said recently work done at Kumbalgarh, Chhitorgarh and several other places definitely help in unfolding some rare chapters of our history before our youngsters.

On the occasion, the Finance Minister, Shri Jaswant Singh said that coins would make aware of the values of Veer Durgadass as these will be not merely decorative coins but will be in circulation also.

Shri Jagmohan, Minister for Tourism and Culture said that his Ministry has started number of projects to protect and preserve our cultural heritage. Cultural hubs are being developed all over the country which will present various aspects of our culture and better civic governance. He said places related with Veer Durgadass would be taken up for improvement of landscape and preservation. Work will also be started at Haldighati, Jasalmer, Chhitorgarh and several other places will also be taken up for this purpose. The Denominations of the Coins are Rs. 100, Rs. 10 and Re. 1. The Re. 1 coin will be for circulation. One side of the coin shall bear the portrait of ‘VEER DURGADASS’ and on the left upper periphery with the words ‘VEER DURGADASS (1638-1718)’ in Hindi.
