GENERATE HEALTHY IDEAS THROUGH BOOKS FOR THE GOOD OF THE SOCIETY : DR. JOSHI

"Generate healthy and progressive ideas through books for the good of the society", said Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, the Minister for Human Resource Development, here today while addressing the Forum of the Asian Pacific Publishers Association. He said all concerned must make concerted efforts to help enhance the reading habits among the people, especially the younger generation. This, he said is essential for creating a world free from violence and conflicts.

Regretting the declining trend both in readership and the quality of books, Dr. Joshi said that this needs to be reversed. The publishers must produce quality books and serious books catering to various sections of the society. He also spoke of the need to produce books on cost effective basis.

Referring to the Delhi Book Fair opening tomorrow, Dr. Joshi said that it will help demonstrate India’s potential in publishing field. The Minister disclosed that the National Book Trust will shortly be organising exhibition-cum-seminars in different parts of the country to promote reading habit
