SAIL REDUCES LOSS TO RS. 316 CRORE

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) incurred a net loss of Rs. 1707 crore in the year 2001-02. The gross margin and cash loss during 2001-02 was Rs. 1011 crore and Rs. 551 crore respectively. The net loss was reduced to Rs. 316 crore (before tax) during 2002-03, registering an improvement of 82 per cent over the previous year (2001-02).

This information was given by the Minister for Steel Shri Braja Kishore Tripathty in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
