IMPORT OF OIL AND GAS FROM IRAQ
During 2002-03, 4.166
million metric tonne (MMT) of crude oil was imported in the country
from Iraq. During 2003-04, IOC has signed contract with M/s SOMO,
National Oil Company of Iraq, for supply of about 0.75 MMT of
crude oil from October, 2003 to December, 2003. BPCL and HPCL
also propose to enter into term contract with M/s SOMO for supply
of crude oil during 2003-04.
The above information
was given by the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural
Gas, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, today in the Lok Sabha in a written
reply.
