KASHIRAM RANA LEAVES FOR INDONESIA
TO ATTEND MEETING OF
CIRDP
Shri Kashiram Rana
Union Minister for Rural Development leads a high level delegation
to Jakarta, Indonesia to attend 14th Governing Council
Meeting of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia
and the Pacific (CIRDAP).
CIRDAP is mandated
for promotion of technical cooperation among member nations of
the region. It plays a reinforcing role in supporting and furthering
the effectiveness of integrated rural development programmes in
the Asia-Pacific region.
CIRDAP is a regional,
inter governmental and autonomous institution having its headquarters
at Dhaka. It was established at the initiative of the countries
of the Asia-Pacific region and the Food and Agriculture Organisation
(FAO) of the United Nations with support from other UN Organisations
and donor countries/agencies in 1979. The member countries of
CIRDAP are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR,
Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand
and Vietnam. It operates through designated contact Ministries
and Link Institutions in member countries
