APRIL-JULY PERFORMANCE OF NALCO
National Aluminium
Company Limited (NALCO), a public sector undertaking of the Ministry
of Mines produced 97,701 tonnes of Aluminium cast metal and 499,900
tonnes of calcined alumina during April-July, 2003 as against
the target of 94,050 tonnes and 518,000 tonnes respectively. It
produced 1,372,821 tonnes of bauxite against a target of 1,295,000
tonnes during the period. It sold 91,721 tonnes of aluminium metal
against a target of 94,250 tonnes during these 4 months. The aluminium
export during the quarter was 41,908 tonnes against a target of
45,000 tonnes. It sold 285,056 tonnes of Alumina/Hydrate during
April-July, 2003 against a target of 296,000 tonnes.
The captive power
plant of the company during the period produced 1662.18 million
units (MU) of electricity against a target of 1651 MU and sold
165.28 MUs to GRIDCO. NALCO posted a net profit of Rs. 520.90
crore during the year 2002-03 as compared to Rs. 409.35 crore
for the year 2001-02.
