DELAY
IN ESTABLISHMENT OF TORPEDO TEST FACILITIES
There has been delay
of about six years in establishing the lake test facilities for
testing of torpedo in sheltered waters. The CAG report also states
delay of six years.
The main reason for
the delay is failure of the contractor to supply the torpedo launch
and recovery vessel (TLR V) which was finally constructed by Defence
Research and Development Organisation.
The Project Monitoring
Committee (PMC) met from time to time to review, monitor and progress
the project and took necessary corrective measures.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written
reply to Shri Raghunath Jha in Lok Sabha today.
