INSTALLATION OF NEW POWER GENERATING
PROJECTS IN PUNJAB
The Tenth Plan capacity
addition programme envisaged creation of 1166 MW fresh capacity
in the State sector in Punjab. Work on any of the State sector
power project is yet to commence.
After taking into
account the capacity addition programme during Tenth Plan, the
energy deficit to the tune of 25.9% and peak deficit to the tune
of 34.8% is anticipated in the State of Punjab by the end of Tenth
Plan i.e.2006-07.
This information
was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power
in a written reply to a question by Shri Bhan Singh Bhaura in
Lok Sabha today.
