While no comprehensive
database is maintained for consumption by different categories
of consumers, several steps have been taken by the Government
to conserve usage of petrol and diesel in general including Public
Sector. These include:
- mandating ethanol blending of
petrol in certain States and Union Territories
- increasing awareness of oil conservation
measures
- promoting use of CNG/LPG in transport
system
- issuing guidelines to the Ministries/Departments/PSUs
for containing the expenditure on fuels for vehicles.
The above information
was given by the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri
Ram Naik today in the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
