CONVERSION OF DDA SHOPS INTO FREEHOLD

Government has approved a scheme under which all lessees of DDA built-up shops will have the option of getting their units converted from leasehold to freehold on payment of 10% of land value as notified by DDA for the area in which their unit is located as well as payment of the dues on account of ground rent, service charges, etc. The original lessees of DDA shops are entitled to 40% discount on conversion charges whereas power of attorney holders are required to pay 33.33% surcharge on conversion fee.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation, Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written reply to the question of Shri Manibhai Ramjibhai Chaudhari in Lok Sabha today.
