The Government has
decided to enter into a bilateral agreement with the Swiss Confederation
for cooperation and assistance in enhancement of early warning
systems, enhancement of capacity building, preparedness and training
of Rescue Teams, Human Resource Development and deployment of
Search and Rescue Teams in the event of disasters.
The Minister
of State for Home, Swami Chinmayanand told the Lok Sabha in a
written reply that the Search and Rescue Teams of Switzerland
are among the best teams in the field of search and rescue and
the cooperation will help in enhancing the capabilities of our
Search and Rescue Teams.
To a related
question, the Minister said the Swiss Confederation will not have
any permanent set up in India.
