WELFARE OF MINORITIES IN ANDHRA PRADESH
RAJYA SABHA
The Ministry of Social
Justice and Empowerment is implementing various schemes for welfare
of minorities in Andhra Pradesh. These include term loan and micro-financing
schemes for economic development of minorities by National Minorities
Development and Finance Corporation (NMDPC) and financial assistance
to needy students/ institutions for promotion of education by
the Central Wakf Council (CWC) and Maulana Azad Education Foundation
(MAEF).
The CWC is extending
loans to various Wakf Institutions in the country for taking up
economically viable projects on Wakf lands and implementing educational
programmes, such as, Scholarships for Technical/ Professional
Courses, ad-hoc grant to poor and needy students, financial assistance
to libraries/ books and financial assistance to vocational training
courses.
The Maulana Azad
Education Foundation gives assistance for the purpose of construction/
expansion of schools/ residential schools/ colleges/ Polytechnics/
hostels mainly for the girl students belonging to minorities and
purchase of machinery/ equipments for laboratories and for setting
up/ strengthening vocational / technical training centres for
women.
The government is
also implementing the Scheme of Pre-examination coaching for weaker
sections including minorities based on economic criteria. Under
the scheme, financial assistance is given to institutions for
providing coaching to students for appearing in various competitive
examinations for recruitment and for admission in professional
colleges. The details of the said schemes and their beneficiaries
