NEW SECRETARY RAILWAY BOARD


Shri R.R.Bhandari, a member of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), has taken over as Secretary, Railway Board in the Ministry of Railways.

He succeeds Shri R.R. Jaruhar, who has since joined as General Manager of Northern Railway, New Delhi.

Born on August 9, 1946, Shri Bhandari is B.E(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. He was Chief Mechanical Engineer, Southern Railway, Chennai. His experience includes assignments as Divisional Railway Manager, Chief Personnel Officer, South Eastern Railway and various other postings in the Ministry of Railways and Zonal Railways. He has done special studies in quality of train examination and their effect on detachment of freight wagon, reorganization of National Rail Museum for major exhibitions and captive rail line for thermal power plants. Shri Bhandari is a prolific writer on railways and has ten books on various aspects of Indian Railways to his credit. His area of interests is Railway History, industrial engineering, organizational behaviour and communication skills.
