SUBSIDY TO ENTREPRENEURS FOR FPI IN
TAMIL NADU

The Ministry of Food
Processing Industries under its plan schemes provides financial
assistance in the form of grant to Non-Government Organisations
(NGOs), Cooperatives, Private Industries, Public Sector Undertakings,
Human Resources Development (HRD), and Research & Development
(R&D) Institutions for the development of food processing
industries. While a grant of Rs. 125.96 crores has been provided
for infrastructure and for setting up of food processing industries
during the last three years in various parts of the country, grant
of Rs. 8.17 crores has been extended for this purpose to the projects
in the State of Tamil Nadu.
The Ministry of Food
Processing Industries has written to the Nodal Agencies and Chief
Secretaries of all the States including Tamil Nadu to conduct
a detailed study to assess the potentiality of their States.
This information
was given in Lok Sabha today by Shri N.T. Shanmugam, Minister
of State for Food Processing Industries in a written reply.
