COAL BASED SPONGE IRON UNITS
RAJYA SABHA
India is the largest
coal based sponge iron producer in the world. Gross domestic production
of sponge iron in 2003-04 has been projected at 7.5 million tonnes.
The production of major coal based sponge iron units during 2001-02
and 2002-03 is given in the table below:-
