CONFERENCE TO PROJECT INDIA AS
PREMIER CONVENTION VENUE
A
Two days’ conference to project India as premier convention venue
will be held in New Delhi on May 2-3, 2003. The conference would
showcase India’s facilities to hold big conference and conventions
and simultaneously create awareness about the benefits of such
conferences among representatives of tourism industry. Briefing
about the agenda of the conference, additional Director General
of the Ministry of tourism, Smt. Rashmi Varma said that the conference
would provide the perfect forum for opinions, views and plans
to project India as convention’s destination. She said that a
mart would also be hold to give a opportunity to travel and tourism
sector to showcase their services and products before international
buyers.
The conventions
will be attended by experts and conference planners from various
countries besides representatives of hotel and tourism industry
including airlines, hotel chains, travel agencies, tour operators
and event organisers. Sessions on conference management sellers’
interaction, HRD development and other related issues will be
held during the conference.
The Organisation
of the Conclave would give further impetus in the promotion of
India as an International Convention Destination and would be
very much in consonance with the promotion of India as a tourist
destination in general for which the government have launched
several their initiatives.
