FORMULA OF POWER ALLOCATION
No specific proposal
has been received from Government of Madhya Pradesh for amendment
in the formula of power allocation to States from Central Sector
Generating Stations. However, the said formula was reviewed and
it was decided in April, 2000 to treat the existing formula as
'guidelines' so as to link the allocation of power with the need
for capacity to pay. Under the 'guidelines' power from new Central
Sector Power Stations will be made to the States/Uts as per their
entitlement subject to the power purchase agreements to be signed
with CPSUs concerned.
As per information
available, no specific request has been received from Government
of Madhya Pradesh for providing additional power to meet the demand
for flood lighting.
This information
was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power
in a written reply to a question by Shri P.K.Maheshwari in Rajya
Sabha today.
