ACTION AGAINST UNAUTHORISED CONSTRUCTION
& ENCROACHMENTS IN PETROL PUMP SITES IN DELHI

A Survey Committee
constituted by the Government to look into the encroachment and
unauthorized construction in petrol pump sites in Delhi had surveyed
276 petrol pump sites and found encroachment in 191. The petrol
pump owners/lessees who were found to have encroached into the
Government land in excess of the actual allotment made to them
were served notices by the local agencies. Some of the petrol
pump owners/lessees went to the court against the notices issued
to them and hence the matter is subjudice. However, DDA has removed
unauthorized encroachments on 13 petrol pump sites and L&DO
on 3 petrol pump sites.
Detection of encroachment
and unauthorized construction in petrol pump sites is a continuous
process. As and when unauthorized construction/encroachment in
petrol pump site is noticed action is initiated by the local agencies
as per the terms & conditions of the lease deed.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty
Alleviation, Sh. Pon. Radhakrishnan in his written reply to the
question of Shri Raghuraj Singh Shakya and Smt. Shyama Singh in
Lok Sabha today.
