DURING THE 10TH PLAN,
ALL CHILD LABOUR ENDEMIC DISTRICTS WOULD BE COVERED WITH A SUBSTANTIAL
OUTLAY OF RS. 668 CRORE
During the 10th
Plan, all child labour endemic districts would be covered with
a substantial outlay of Rs. 668 crore which is 2.7 times that
of the allocation for the 9th Plan. In the current
year, the outlay at Rs. 70.10 crore is also higher in comparison
to Rs. 67 crore last year.
The policy of
the Government is to ban employment of children below the age
of 14 years in hazardous employments and to regulate the working
conditions of children in other employments.
The list of processes
where employment of children is prohibited raised from 51 to 57
and the number of occupations where child labour are prohibited
is 13.
100 child labour
projects sanctioned in 13 child labour endemic States under the
National Child Labour Project Scheme covering 2.13 lakh children
by establishing special schools to provide non-formal education,
vocational training, supplementary nutrition, etc. to children
withdrawn from employment.
