OF NSTFDC UNDER TRIBAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY LAUNCHED
The National Scheduled
Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) here today
launched a website inter-alia containing details of the procedure
to avail financial assistance from this organisation. The website
can be visited at www.nstfdc.nic.in.
NSTFDC is a premiere
institution under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs which provides
focus attention for the economic development of the Scheduled
Tribes in the country. For the launching of the website a special
function was organised in PIB Press Conference Hall, Shastri Bhavan
where the Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram briefed
the gathering on the efficacy of the website. The Videoconference
formed part of the function and during the Videoconference, Shri
Jual Oram and Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, MOS for Tribal Affairs
interacted with the Press through the PIB set up at Bhubaneswar,
Hyderabad and Gandhinagar (Ahmedabad) through NIC network. Representatives
from several NGOs who are engaged for economic development of
tribals in the country participated in the Conference on this
occasion.
NSTFDC was set up
in April, 2001 under the aegis of Ministry of Tribal Affairs to
provide focussed attention for the economic development of Scheduled
Tribe population. It provides concessional financial assistance
to the ST persons having annual family income up to double the
poverty line, through the State Channelising Agencies (SCAs) and
other recognised institutions nominated by the respective State/UT
Governments. It also provides Working Capital Loan through the
SCAs and to Government owned institutions/National level federations
like TRIFED FOR SUPPORTING MARKETING ACTIVITIES of agricultural/minor
forest produce and Tribal products. During 2002-03, NSTFDC launched
a new scheme titled ‘Adivasi Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana’ for
providing concessional financial assistance scheme exclusively
for the economic development of ST women beneficiaries. Under
the scheme NSTFDC provides term loan for schemes(s)/project(s)
costing within Rs. 50,000/- per unit upto 90% of the unit cost/profit
centre at interest @ 2% p.a. chargeable from the SCAs and SCAs
may charge upto 4% p.a. from the ultimate women beneficiaries.
During 2002-03, the Corporation has sanctioned 154 schemes/projects
having NSTFDC’s share of Rs. 98.89 crores for assisting 178999
ST persons against sanctions target of Rs. 80.00 crores. Disbursements
during the year amounted to Rs. 42.16 crores. The Corporation
has set a sanction target of Rs.100.00 Crores for the year 2003-04.
