UNIVERSALISATION OF REHABILITATION
SERVICES
RAJYA SABHA
To achieve the objective
of universalisation of rehabilitation services, the Rehabilitation
Council of India (RCI) has prepared a Vision Document-2000-2010
which addresses the areas of awareness, education, community based
rehabilitation, publication and geriatric rehabilitation. In all
8967 special education teachers and 12910 other professionals
have been registered with the RCI as on 31.12.2002.
The human resource
development programme related to rehabilitation services including
special education are being expanded and improved outreach is
achieved through assistance to NGOs and institutions working under
the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Dr. Sanjay Paswan,
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, gave this
information in Rajya Sabha today in reply to a written question
by Dr. T. Subbarami Reddy and Shri Moolchand Meena.
