FUNDS FOR SCHEDULED CASTE
STUDENTS
RAJYA SABHA
The Government has
received a proposal from Government of Karnataka for release of
Rs. 45 lakh under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Coaching and
Allied Assistance for Weaker Sections including Scheduled Castes,
Other Backward Classes and Minorities for imparting coaching of
students for various competitive examinations for Group A, Group
B services and Entrance
Examinations to professional
courses. Funds to the State Government could not be released during
the year 2002-2003 for want of Utilization Certificate for the
grant released in the previous years.
However, the
Government has released Rs. 28.20 lakh during the year 2002-2003
for imparing remedial coaching to Scheduled Castes students studying
in class IX th to XII th under the Scheme of Upgradation of Merit
of Scheduled Caste Students.
Dr. Sanjay Paswan,
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, gave this
information in Rajya Sabha today in reply to a written question
by Dr. Vijay Mallya.
