STEPS TO PREVENT VANDALISM IN DELHI METRO

RAJYA SABHA

There have been some cases of Vandalism involving breaking of strap hangars, saloon glasses, window glasses and front look out glasses of Metro Coaches in Delhi. The damage amounts to Rs. 1.45 lakhs.

A number of steps have been taken to prevent vandalism and littering in the Delhi Metro trains. These include: -

    1. Deployment of private security guards at all strategic locations on the route on which Metro is operating. These guards cover all the strategic locations and are of considerable help in preventing such incidents.
    2. Deployment of Delhi Metro Rail Police – The Delhi Police has positioned a dedicated cadre of policemen drawn from their own ranks for the overall safety and security of Delhi Metro.
    3. Delhi Metro’s own front line staff positioned at stations and in trains keep an eye on the traffic flow and prevents such incidents.

This was stated by the Minister of State for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written answer to the question of Shri B.J. Panda in Rajya Sabha today.
