IGI AIRPORT SECURITY HANDED OVER TO CISF


A new Civil Aviation Security Academy is to come up in New Delhi. This was announced by the Civil Aviation Minister Shri Syed Shahnawaz Hussain at a function to mark the handing over of the security of the Indira Gandhi International Airport to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) here today. The Minister said there will be no compromise to ensure a seamless and fail proof security at the airports. Shri Shahnawaz Hussain said, the expenditure on security has shot up sharply from Rs.80 crore to Rs.218 crore in couple of years but that has helped us to be among the front ranking countries in this area.

With the induction of CISF at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, security at 46 airports including the four metro airports has been passed on to them. Over one thousand nine hundred CISF personnel headed by a Senior Commandant will be deployed at the IGI Airport.

Civil Aviation Secretary Shri K. Roy Paul, the CISF Director General Shri B.B. Mishra and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
