RAIL FREIGHT TRAFFIC IN AUGUST 2002
During August ,2002, the Railways transported
40.88 Million Tonnes (MT) of revenue earning goods. This was 2.91
million tonnes more than the Goods transported during the same
period last year.
In August,2002 the Railways transported 19.20
MT of Coal, 3.23 MT of Raw Materials, 1.09 MT of Iron and Steel,
1.14 MT of Iron Ore for Export, 3.37 MT of Cement, 3.86 MT of
Foodgrains, 2.23 MT of Fertilizers and 2.67 MT of Petroleum, Oil
and Lubricant (P.O.L) and 4.09 MT of Other Goods .
The Railways' Freight Traffic earnings during
August,2002 were a total of Rs.2173.44 crores. Out of this Rs.
967.13 crores were from Coal, Rs.91.92 crores from Raw Material,
Rs.111.76 crore from Iron and Steel, Rs. 45.04 crores were from
Iron-ore for Export, Rs.153.28 crores from Cement, Rs.273.90 crores
from Foodgrains, Rs.107.48 crores from Fertilizers, Rs.210.12
crores from P.O.L and Rs.212.80 crores were from Other Goods.
