PRESIDENT AND PRIME
MINISTER HAIL METSAT LAUNCH
The President and
the Prime Minister have hailed the successful launch of METSAT
by PSLV-C4, last week.
The President Dr.
A P. J. Abdul Kalam, in his message said, "this once again demonstrates
the capabilities of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
to undertake difficult and complex satellite missions".
The Prime Minister’s
message said, "our space programme has crossed yet another significant
milestone by launching an exclusive Meteorological Satellite,
using our own launch vehicle." Shri A.B. Vajpayee said, the event
demonstrates the versatility of our space programmes and reaffirms
our commitment to use space technology as a vehicle for development.
The METSAT will help in improving our weather forecasting skills,
which is invaluable for planning economic activities in a number
of areas, the message added.
