HOWRAH-NEW DELHI RAJDHANI ACCIDENT – NINETY THREE PASSENGERS DEAD AND 209 INJURED

HECTIC EFFORTS ON TO RESTORE TRAFFIC BY TOMORROW


Rescue and relief operations of the 2301 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express train accident is almost complete. Hectic efforts are on to restore traffic on the affected route by tomorrow evening. Two passenger trains have been cancelled and another fifteen were diverted due to the accident. Ninety three passengers lost their lives and 209 were injured due to the derailment of Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express near Rafiganj railway station in Aurangabad district in Bihar on Monday night. Commissioner of Railway Safety, Eastern Circle who visited and inspected the accident site will commence the detailed enquiry into the accident on 16th of this month at Mughalsarai.

Injured passengers have been admitted to Railway Hosipital, Magadh Medical College, Military Hosipital, Gaya, MGS Railway Hospital, R.K.Mission Hospital, Varanasi, NHRC, New Delhi, Sasaram Hospital, and Anugrahnarian Dist Hospital.

Railway Minister Shri Nitish Kumar has announced an increased amount of ex gratia relief to the victims to the tune of Rs.100000/ in case of death, Rs.25000/ for those suffered serious injuries and Rs.5000/- for minor injuries.
