RS. 15.43 CRORE RELEASED TO KARNATAKA UNDER SAMPOORNA GRAMIN ROJGAR YOJANA


The Ministry of Rural Development has released Rs.1543.16 lakh and 24,314 tonnes of common rice as the 2nd installment to 11 districts of Karnataka under Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) for the financial year 2002-03.

The expenditure on implementation of the programme with regard to cash component is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Central and the State government. The DRDAs or Zilla Parishads will release the entire funds allocated to them directly to the Village Panchayats within fifteen days of receipt of funds.

Each Village Panchayat, getting cash allocation of Rs. 25,000 (Centre and State) as on April 1, 2001 will continue to get the same amount and corresponding quantity of foodgrains. Those Panchayats, which got less than this amount, will get minimum of Rs. 25,000 and corresponding quantity of foodgrains. Balance amount including foodgrains, if any, is to be distributed among all the Village Panchayats in proportion to their population.

The State government is to release its share with in a fortnight of the date of release of the Central assistance.
